About

Curve & Compass Analytics is a Florida-based analytics firm providing expert witness and litigation support, regulatory analytics consulting, and program evaluation services to clients who need analysis that holds up — in court, before regulators, and under the scrutiny of funders and oversight bodies.

We work at the intersection of technical rigor and applied practice. Our engagements span complex AI/ML disputes, regulatory compliance challenges, and evidence-based program evaluation — connected by a single standard: analytics designed to withstand scrutiny.

Our Approach

Sound analysis doesn't begin with the deliverable. It begins with the question — what does this finding need to survive? A Daubert challenge. A regulatory examination. A funder's technical review. A hostile cross-examination. We design our work backward from that standard, which means our methods are documented, our assumptions are explicit, and our conclusions are defensible.

We bring quantitative depth to problems that general consultants handle superficially and domain knowledge to problems that pure technologists handle without context. That combination — rigorous methods plus practitioner perspective — is what makes our work useful in high-stakes environments.

Chief Data Scientist

Stuart Jones, MS, MS, CDMP

Stuart brings an unusual combination of technical depth and regulatory experience to data science and analytics practice. His background spans senior-level data science leadership in insurance regulation, AI/ML model evaluation, statistical methodology, and the development of novel fairness testing frameworks — including methodologies for detecting proxy discrimination through external demographic data linkage and adversarial model stress testing.

He holds master's degrees in Statistics and Mathematics Education and holds the Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) designation. He has nearly a decade of experience in regulatory data science, seven-plus years of applied teaching in statistics and data science, and has developed AI/ML evaluation protocols deployed in active regulatory practice.

Stuart leads the firm's expert witness practice and contributes to regulatory analytics engagements requiring deep AI/ML technical expertise.

Service Areas

Curve & Compass Analytics operates across three integrated service lines:

Expert Witness & Litigation Support — AI/ML model evaluation, algorithmic fairness analysis, and technical support for plaintiff, defense, and neutral engagements in matters involving algorithmic decision-making and data science methodology.

Regulatory Analytics — Governance frameworks, pre-examination review, proxy discrimination assessment, and applied quantitative analytics for insurance carriers, health plans, financial services firms, and public sector organizations navigating regulatory requirements.

Program Evaluation & Data Science — Rigorous impact evaluation, causal inference methods, AI program assessment, and applied data science for government agencies, universities, and nonprofit organizations.

Why Curve & Compass

The name reflects the firm's orientation. A curve is empirical — it follows the data where it leads. A compass is directional — it orients findings toward decisions that matter. Neither is sufficient alone. Together they describe what good analytics practice actually looks like: honest about what the evidence shows, and clear about what it means.

All engagements are screened for conflicts prior to execution.
